Weekly Lunches

Hey Gang,

If you hadn't heard, we are a go on doing a free weekly lunch. We are going to do a trial run in APril and see how it goes.  11:30-1:30 each Monday in April.  I need your help in coming up with a clever name for it to put on our publicity and whatnot.  The best thing we have so far is "Monday Lunches" so let's see if we can't come up with something a little bit better!!  :)  Please post your comments...

Over the last week or so I've heard a few suggestions to do a SNE in October.  About the only logical date to do it would be Sunday, October 30th.  A few questions:

1.  Do we want to do it?

2.  If you answered yes to the above question, will you be able to help put it together?

3.  If we do it, do we want to just make it a dinner, or do we want to have a program, such as the Halloween SNE? (this is the day before halloween).  If we do Halloween SNE, then we need lots of volunteers to put together various games and of course we can have a costume contest and all that.

I think it would be pretty easy for us to do, but we will leave the ultimate decision up to you the students and leadership.  Talk amongst yaselves...

Ok so I'd like some input on the upcoming Hurricane Relief Fundraiser:

It will be Saturday, October 1st.  The gametime is 6:00, so I'm thinking we will hold it from around 3:00 up until gametime.

1.  Is 3:00 a good start time?  That gives us about 3 hours to sell burgers.  Is that too much, not enough, or about right?

2.  Publicity- What should we do for publicity and how should we do it??  We have a good many volunteers so that won't be a problem.  Thoughts and Suggestions?

3.  Food/Drinks- Should we just do burgers and keep it simple or should we offer burgers, dogs, and maybe even chicken?  Basically the question comes down to: Will we make enough extra money by offering more to offset the fact that it will be more difficult and take more prep to offer a variety of meats and foods?  Should we offer canned drinks too, or just food?  Chips?  Cookies?  Potato Salad? Beans?

4.  Cost- Should we charge one fixed price for EVERYTHING?  Should we charge individually like X dollars for a burger, Y dollars for a drink, Z dollars for chips, etc.?  Should we not charge anything and make it simply a donation (keep in mind that some people may not give anything, but many will probably give more then we would actually charge).

Ok, I welcome your feedback...

Oh, I didn't realize I had to put my name, so you would know who this came from.

The following blog was from Morgan, that's morgan@wesleyou.org

Hey group, does anyone want to go to McFarlin Sunday and ask Sunday school classes for cookies? Time will be from about 9:30-10:10 at the beginning of classes. Good times and great ministry! You can do the blog thing or email me or whatever. Daniel is still teaching me how to do all this xanga jazz...
